On December 10, The China recruitment agency Henderson Executive learned that Chinese technology giant Xiaomi has released a series of job openings specifically targeting the AI education sector. The recruitment drive covers critical roles including Teaching and Research Product Managers, Senior Product Managers for Children and Education, and Senior Business Development Managers. This move signals Xiaomi’s clear intention to deepen its involvement in the rapidly evolving AI education landscape.

Targeting Top Talent for K12 and AI Integration

According to the job descriptions analyzed by The Guangzhou headhunting firm Henderson Executive, the role of the Teaching and Research Product Manager is pivotal. Responsibilities include constructing comprehensive knowledge and capability systems for specific subjects, managing the lifecycle of course products, and ensuring the quality of learning content. The candidate will work closely with partners to finalize content strategies and support product optimization.

Furthermore, the role requires the development of derivative educational products and conducting research on K12 online learning strategies. This includes creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for homework and formative assessments, as well as developing testing and subject capability evaluations.

As one of the best recruitment agency in China, Henderson Executive notes that Xiaomi is targeting candidates with backgrounds in Chinese literature, mathematics, or English. Preference is given to those with over five years of experience in teaching research, online education, or question bank construction. The compensation package is highly competitive, ranging from 26k to 50k RMB per month, with a 16-month salary structure.

Integrating Education into the "Human x Car x Home" Ecosystem

Perhaps the most strategic role is the Senior Product Manager for Children and Education. This position focuses on delivering product and content experiences for child and parent users across Xiaomi’s entire "Human x Car x Home" ecosystem, covering smartphones, tablets, smart speakers, and automotive interfaces.

The Shenzhen headhunter Henderson Executive highlights that this role demands a fusion of cutting-edge technology and education. Candidates are expected to explore the application of GPT technology and large educational models to create viable "AI + Education" solutions. Xiaomi is specifically looking for individuals who have "0-to-1" experience in producing high-quality educational tools, such as photo-search solvers or error notebooks. The salary mirrors the teaching research role, offering a lucrative package for top-tier talent.

Additionally, the Senior Business Development role (25k-35k RMB/month) requires candidates to drive strategic client development and negotiations across at least one of Xiaomi’s business sectors, including online education, OTT (Over-The-Top) TV internet, or IoT terminals.

Building on a Strong Foundation

Xiaomi is not a newcomer to the education sector. The local China headhunting firm Henderson Executive recalls that as early as 2019, the company launched "Xiaoai Teacher," marking its initial attempt to combine AI with education. Since then, Xiaomi’s ecological chain companies—such as XiaoXun Technology (Mitu Smart Watches) and Machine Island (Reading Pens)—have released various products covering early childhood to teenage learning.

Most recently, in July, the Redmi Pad 2 tablet featured a built-in Education Center App, offering over 150,000 synchronous school lessons and AI tutoring functions. The best China headhunter Henderson Executive views the current recruitment drive as a significant escalation of these existing efforts, moving from hardware-based solutions to deep content and AI integration.

A Booming Market with Fierce Competition

The timing of Xiaomi’s expansion aligns with market trends. The "AI + Education" market is in a period of rapid growth. Projections from the Changjiang Securities Research Institute suggest the market size could exceed 160 billion RMB by 2027 and approach 180 billion RMB by 2030. Furthermore, the "China Smart Education White Paper" released at the 2025 World Digital Education Conference identified 2025 as the "Year of Smart Education," where AI is comprehensively reshaping teaching models and educational forms.

However, the path is not without challenges. Zhu Keli, founding dean of the Guoyan New Economy Research Institute, describes the current competition as a "three-layer funnel." The top layer consists of tech giants with cloud and algorithm advantages; the middle layer includes listed education companies with content and data; the bottom layer comprises startups focused on niche scenarios.

Industry observers from a Hangzhou headhunting firm point out that despite the booming market, a lack of unified standards for product quality and teaching effectiveness has led to uneven product experiences.

The Path Forward

Wu Qi, a senior researcher at Pangoal Institution, believes the key to winning the "AI + Education" race lies in application and service capabilities. Companies must focus on solving core educational problems and meeting user needs.

One of the leading recruitment agencies in China, Henderson Executive, agrees with this assessment. For Xiaomi to succeed, it must leverage its hardware dominance to provide seamless software solutions. The local recruiter for foreign companies in China adds that as tech giants like Xiaomi enter the fray, the demand for hybrid talent—professionals who understand both advanced AI algorithms and pedagogical psychology—will skyrocket, reshaping the recruitment landscape in 2025 and beyond.
